MONROE TOWNSHIP — August road repairs in Monroe Township continue on schedule for the township board of trustees who announced at their Aug. 18 meeting that recent work projects have been completed on Shoop Road, Montgomery County Line Road and Kent Drive. Additional work projects on Shoop Road, Neal Pearson, and other areas are scheduled for this year as well.
A report reviewed by the trustees shows that by mid-August at Maple Hill Cemetery, there have been 43 burials and 28 grave sites sold. These figures are a bit lower than this time last year, when by August 2013 there were 65 burials and 42 graves sold at Maple Hill.
Expenses in the near future for road salt for township roads and top soil for Maple Hill Cemetery are currently being reviewed by the township board members.
Local residents are reminded that the next 2014 Household Hazardous Waste Drop Off will be from 2-6 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Miami County Sanitary Engineering Facility, 2200 N. County Road 25-A in Troy. The annual Trans Am Nationals Show is set for 5-9 p.m. Saturday in downtown Tipp City. The final Tipp City Farmers Market dates are from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 6 and Sept. 13 on South Third Street.
The next Monroe Township Water and Sewer District board meeting is set for 6 p.m. Sept. 8 at the township meeting room, 6 E. Main St.
Bills paid at the township meeting equaled $41,207.07.
The next township meeting will be shifted to 7 p.m. Sept. 2, since the first Monday in September is the Labor Day holiday. The township offices and facilities will be closed on Sept. 1 in recognition of Labor Day.
