To the Editor:
On behalf of the Miami County Walk to End Alzheimer’s held on Sept. 10, we would like to express our gratitude to a number of people. First, we want to thank the individuals, businesses and corporations who donated so generously to the Walk. The Miami County goal was to raise $55,000 that would go toward finding a cure and supplying needed care to local families impacted by Alzheimer’s or dementia. The Walk raised nearly $59,000, which is 107 percent of the goal.
Second, we would like to thank the Walk Planning Committee: Trisha Elliott, Missy Edwards, Jane Pence, Cheryl Chasteen and our Miami Valley Alzheimer’s Walk Coordinator, Katie Mauch. Their tireless work made the Walk a huge success.
Third, we would like to thank the Walk day volunteers and all others who donated their time and talents to making the Walk an enjoyable and successful event. This includes WPTW for providing entertainment along the route, Michael and Trent from Music Productions for providing sound and entertainment at the Walk site, Lisa Curtis for doing Zumba with our participants, and our various food and beverage donors.
And certainly ,a big thank you to the nearly 500 participants who joined us while bringing awareness to this deadly disease.
We would also like to personally thank our family and friends who donated to our team’s cause. Team Donnie was fortunate enough to raise nearly $9,000 for this year’s walk.
Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S. It is the only disease in the top 10 causes of death that cannot be prevented, slowed or cured. In the U.S., someone develops Alzheimer’s every 66 seconds. Your financial support, help and willingness to Walk moves us faster toward discovering a treatment and cure for this disease. Once again, thank you!
