To the Editor:
The Independence Day Celebration Association committee wishes to thank everyone who participated in our parade on July 4th this year.
Thank you Betty Tasker, Rum River Blend, The Sons of Liberty, and Mike Smith for providing us with patriotic music as the parade made its way through the streets of Troy. A special thank you goes to the local businesses who helped us by providing services or products to the parade: Erwin Chrysler who provided a truck and trailer to carry veterans and two convertibles for the grand marshals, Baird’s funeral home for the loan of the chairs for the trailer, Honda Powersports for the use of a generator for Betty Tasker, Troy Sports center for donating the grand marshal plaques, and Calle Creations for the cake served at the grand marshal ceremony.
We have no corporate support for this parade so we really appreciate any and all donations of money, goods, or services given to us. Thank you to all the owners/drivers of the classic cars and Corvette-Troy for providing rides for the royalty and city officials who rode in the parade. Your willingness to haul these people was greatly appreciated by us.
We would also like to thank everyone who lined the streets to support us and to the young people who passed out the flags which were donated by the Smith O’Neal VFW Post. I hope I haven’t forgotten to thank anyone, but if I have, please know that we appreciate your help and support. We hope you enjoyed the parade and continue to support us. We are committed to continuing this event and welcome all help and ideas to make it bigger and better next year.
A big thank you for everyone that came out to the July 4, 2015.
Parade looking forward to the 2016 one!
