TROY — It was the end of an era for the Troy boys soccer team Saturday night, as a whopping 12 seniors participated in their final regular season game at Troy Memorial Stadium.
Troy’s seniors went out in style with a 4-2 victory over Wayne. With the win, Troy improved its record to 10-4 on the season.
The Trojans wasted little time getting on the board Saturday, as Caleb Leibold scored off an assist from Grant Holland just 51 seconds into the first half. Wayne would tie the score with eight minutes remaining in the first half when Brady Peyton scored off an assist from Trey Williams.
With four minutes left in the first half, Leibold would score his second goal of the night — again off an assist from Holland — allowing the Trojans to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
Leibold would pick up the hat trick for the Trojans — once again off an assist from Holland — with 14 minutes left in the second half, pushing the Trojans lead to 3-1. Jake Diffenderfer-Gabbard would ice the win with a goal off an assist from J.T. Yenner with eight minutes to play in the game.
Wayne’s Payton would add another goal to finish off the scoring for both teams.
It was the final regular season home game in the careers of Trojan seniors Johan Trotter, Mack Sherman, Spencer Covault, Diffenderfer-Gabbard, Tristan West, Nate Kreinbrink, Yenney, Cam Schulz, Leibold, Alex Williams and Mitchell Evans.
Troy closes the regular season with road games against Piqua Tuesday and Springfield Thursday.
