Full day of games to wrap up Troy basketball celebration

TROY — A season-long celebration of the 100th anniversary of Troy High School basketball will culminate Saturday at Hobart Arena with a full day of basketball as Troy takes on Tippecanoe in a full day of Troy boys and girls basketball.

The Troy and Tippecanoe boys freshmen teams will play at 11 a.m. the Troy and Tippecanoe girls junior varsity teams will play at 12:30 p.m. and the boys junior varsity teams will play at 2 p.m. Following an intermission, the second session will begin with the Troy and Tippecanoe varsity girls playing at 6 p.m. and the Troy and Tippecanoe varsity boys teams will play at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The doors will open to the public at 5 p.m. for the second session.

All former Troy girls and boys players and coaches have been invited back for the day and will be recognized. Former girls players and coaches will be recognized prior to the girls varsity game, while former boys players and coaches will be recognized prior to the boys game.

The Troy Pop Rocks jump rope team will perform at halftime of the varsity boys game. There also will be a wing-eating contest.

The theme for the day is a “White Out.” Commemorative T-shirts currently are being sold for $10 at Troy High School before school and during all school lunches. Any fan who wears the commemorative T-shirt on Saturday will be granted free admission to the game.

A souvenir game program commemorating the event will be sold throughout the day at Hobart Arena.
