TROY — A little piece of history will come to life this weekend when the 28th IH Scout and All Truck Nationals 2017 rolls into WACO Airfield and Museum.
The annual event celebrating International Harvester Scout models — an off-road vehicle considered the precursor to the modern SUV — will feature IH trucks from the 1930s and will showcase the IH Special Scout 80-800, Red Carpet, Snowstart, SR2, Comanche and Aristocrat models.
This will be the fifth year the event has been held at WACO, located at 1865 S. County Road 25-A, Troy, according to Gretchen Hawk, executive director of WACO Air Museum. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Sunday.
“We love being a community resource and it gets a different group of people familiar with WACO,” Hawk said.
She said the event is family-friendly and car and truck enthusiasts especially will enjoy it.
Registration will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., withi a “Show ‘n Shine” event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both today and Saturday. Both days also will include a guest speaker and tech seminars. On Saturday, IH product displays also will be offered along with judging beginning at 11:30 a.m.
An awards presentation will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday.
In addition, WACO airplane rides will be offered during the event. A swap meet will be held throughout the day each day of the event and door prizes will be awarded during the weekend.
Hawk invites the community out this weekend to see what the event has to offer.
