MIAMI COUNTY — Summer 2017 is coming to an end with children back in school and pumpkins and the harvest just around the corner. Take a look back at some of the events that made summer memorable for area students.

Participants of Eco-Splorers also explored the pond and creeks.

The event began as readers brought their lunch and listened to Children’s Assistant Andi Wise animate the story of “The Three Little Pigs.” Five hands-on stations were set-up for children to explore and participate in during the “Straw, Sticks and Bricks” event.

According to Frosty Brown, the kids got a practice in so that they could get an understanding of the game and apply what they learned during the week-long camp.

According to Miami County YMCA Youth Program Director Jaime Hull, a different theme was set for each week of the camp.

According to Weikert, the camp, offered through the Troy Recreation Department, allows youth to learn the basics of gymnastics including balance skills and basic jumps during the camp held at Van Cleve School.

Children had a lesson in crossing through a safe zone as they properly enter and exit a school bus. During the week-long camp, children were given information to help them become more familiar with various subjects regarding safety including bicycle, electrical, fire and school bus safety.
