The community rang in the holiday season with the “Grand Illumination” event, which took place on the Public Square on Friday, Nov. 24, beginning at 4 p.m.

The event was free to the public, and complementary refreshments were available to those in attendance.

Students from the Troy High School American Sign Language class performed signed versions of popular Christmas songs, followed by a medley of tunes from The Melody Men.

The evening reached its peak when Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived via fire truck, and Santa assisted Mayor Mike Beamish in the lighting of the tree and downtown decorations.

Following the tree lighting, Santa and Mrs. Claus took refuge at Santa’s House on Prouty Plaza, where children were invited to line up and meet Santa.
