TROY — Troy and Tipp City Fire departments responded to a house fire at 1225 Race St. on Saturday in Troy.
The call came in at approximately 11:40 a.m.
“It’s a single residence home with a multi-family living situation,” said Troy Fire Department Chief Matt Simmons. “Our team found a fully-engulfed bedroom fire, and were able to extinguish it pretty fast.”
The fire resulted in minor injuries to one resident.
“One female had a burn to her hand, and she’s being checked out now,” Simmons said from the scene Saturday afternoon.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation and initial damages are estimated at $25,000.
Residents are expected to be displaced temporarily due to smoke damage.
“The structure itself is not damaged too much,” Simmons said. “The fire primarily damaged the home’s contents. Because of the smoke throughout the house, we can’t recommend that the residents stay here, but they will be allowed to have their heat on to keep water pipes from freezing.”
The Red Cross will be assisting the residents displaced by the fire.
