Information provided by the Miami County Sheriff’s Office:
MAIL THEFT: A deputy responded on a report of mail theft from a mailbox at Airplane Plastics located at 9785 Julie Court in Bethel Township, Miami County. Video surveillance showed a black four door sedan possibly a Pontiac G6 or newer model Honda pull up to the mailbox and pry it open. It is unknown what mail was taken from the mailbox. The deputy advised the owners to contact their local postmaster and provided the number to contact the postal inspector about the incident.
ASSAULT AT UVMC: A deputy was dispatched to the Upper Valley Medical Center (UVMC) for an assault complaint. Joey Gambill assaulted two UVMC Security Officers while they were in the course of their duties. The officers were attempting to prevent Mr. Gambill from leaving the hospital as he was “Pink Slipped.” Mr. Gambill grabbed an officer and threw her against a wall. A struggle ensued and she deployed her Taser but it did not stop Mr. Gambill. Mr. Gambill also pushed an assisting officer to the ground during the struggle. When the assisting officer stood back up he deployed his Taser which stopped Mr. Gambill. The officers along with other staff were able to get Mr. Gambill into a bed and restrain him. Mr. Gambill was issued two summonses for assault.
FRAUD: A Covington resident reported that someone had fraudulently used her debt card information at a Walgreens in Cincinnati.
LITTER BUGS: A deputy was dispatched to an assist citizen with a littering complaint in the 5000 block of Brown Road, Washington Township.
TRACTOR TROUBLES: A deputy responded to the 5000 block of Buckneck Road, Newberry Township, in reference a tractor working in the field hit a telephone pole.
PUPPY FRAUD: Two residents of Elizabeth Township reported they were scammed on Craigslist. They attempted to purchase a puppy listed in Columbus. They wired a total of $1,153.01 to Texas to purchase and ship the puppy. They never received the puppy. The reporting party checked phone numbers that were being used by the seller and the fraudulent company that was supposedly shipping the puppy. The phone numbers used are not attached to a carrier.
VET OFFICE INCIDENT: Officers responded to Oakview Veterinary Hospital in Washington Township in reference to a breaking and entering which had occurred overnight. Cash had been taken from the cash register.
TRAFFIC STOP: A deputy made a traffic stop on the listed vehicle for license plates not matching vehicle in the 4000 block of N. County Road 25-A, Piqua. At the conclusion of the stop the driver was cited for Driving Under Suspension and Fictitious Registration.
BICYCLE THEFT: A Pleasant Hill resident reported that someone had stolen his son’s bicycle from their front yard. Mr. The reporting party said his neighbors saw a black male only wearing a white shirt take the bicycle and then ride off.
The suspect Allen Jones was later stopped in Clay Township Montgomery County Ohio riding the stolen bicycle. Mr. Jones was found only wearing a T-shirt like the neighbor said. Mr. Jones was incarcerated on an outstanding warrant and also charged with theft and trespassing.
ASSIST SQUAD: A deputy responded to the listed address to assist Union Township squad. The deputy spoke to the patient Cory Boggs. While speaking to Cory, the deputy noticed that his pupils were dilated and that he did not react well to light which is indicative of drug use. While speaking Cory seemed disoriented and confused and was stating that he thought there was a booger on his hot dog this weekend that gave him a sexually transmitted disease. Cory admitted to last using heroin a month ago. When the deputy asked him if he had used tonight he hesitated and looked away but stated that he had not. Cory requested to be transported to the hospital by Union Township medics.
TRESPASSING: A deputy responded to the 8000 Hetzler Road, Springcreek Township, for a trespassing complaint. The reporting party advised a vehicle with three white males was on his property. The vehicle drove behind the house, by the corn field along the tree line. He advised the three males stated they had permission to go camping there. The reporting party provided a license plate number and vehicle description. The deputy made contact with the three males and they advised the neighbor gave them permission and they didn’t know they had cross the property line. The deputy advised the three males they were trespassed from the property. All three understood.
