Run for Recovery this Saturday

MIAMI COUNTY — Miami County Recovery Council, a local nonprofit counseling agency, is hosting its annual 5K fundraising event to celebrate recovery and promote wellness.

This Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m. runners and walkers from the area are invited to Duke Park in Troy to demonstrate support for the many positive changes recovery can bring into people’s lives. All proceeds from the event will go towards furthering the mission of MCRC in helping local citizens find recovery.

Entry fee is now $25, which includes a Dri-fit T-shirt if they are still available. All participants will receive a “goody bag” and can participate in the many door prizes donated by community supporters. Medals will be awarded to top 3 finishers in each age group and plaques to the overall male and female winners.Post-race refreshments includes Panera Bread bagels and free hamburgers/hot dogs fresh off an outdoor grill.

All two-legged (no pets, please) participants are welcome, from serious runners to recreational runners, walkers and children. The bike path course at Duke Park will lend itself to a safe, enjoyable route for participants and supporters. The entire course can be viewed from a central location, which is great for spectators. A 1-mile walk loop is an option for the participant not ready for the 3.1 mile course. Water will be provided on the course. Race day registration begins at 8 a.m.
