MIAMI COUNTY — At their meeting Thursday, the Miami County Commissioners approved several technology purchases for the IT Department and awarded several bids.
The commissioners approved more than $33,000 in technology purchases for the IT Department. These items will be used for improvements to various county departments.
The largest of these purchases — about $22,000 for network equipment — is intended to bring the Sheriff’s Office network up to date.
Other purchases include spare network switches in case of equipment failure and a new computer and 40 inch monitor for Municipal County bailiffs to view security cameras.
The commissioners awarded county’s road chip seal and fog seal program project to Ray Hensley Inc. in the amount of $123,117 and the line striping project to Aero-Mark Inc. in the amount of $156,000.
The commissioners also accepted a quote from Midwest Maintenance for power plant smokestack repairs.
The project entails the stabilization of the upper area of the smokestack as well as the chemical cleaning and water proofing of the smokestack.
