ELIZABETH TWP. — Miami County Sheriff’s Office believed alcohol was a contributing factor in an early morning rollover crash in Elizabeth Township on Thursday.

Miami County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Tom Wheeler said Justin Fannin, 24, of New Carlisle, was the lone occupant in the vehicle when he lost control, flipping the car several times in the 8100 block of Walnut-Grove Road around 7 a.m. Thursday.

Fannin was initially trapped inside the car before Elizabeth Township and mutual aid first responders were able to free him from the car which landed on its top.

Lt. Wheeler said Fannin showed obvious signs of intoxication at the scene of the incident. Fannin was tested at Miami Valley Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Charges are pending those toxicology results.
