PIQUA — Thirteen students from the Upper Valley Career Center Adult Division Practical Nursing program turned the dream of graduating from nursing school into a reality on July 16.
Dr. Barbara Wagner, adult division director, welcomed those in attendance and congratulated the graduates on reaching this important achievement. Class adviser Paula Strebig commended the graduates on their accomplishment and offered words of inspiration.
“You entered this program with the goal of becoming a nurse. Over the past 11 months you have grown tremendously through hard work and dedication and I am so proud of each of you. It is my honor to welcome you to the nursing profession,” Strebig said.
Pam Hill, practical nursing program director, congratulated all graduates and paid special tribute to individuals who demonstrated high academic success. Recognition for honors went to Cynthia Nishwitz, Houston; Dawn Nichols, Laura; Sanjuanita Benitez, New Bremen; Amber Shira, Piqua; Ashley Thompson, Sidney; Erica Zimmerman, Tipp City; and Emily Magoto of Troy.
Hill pinned the graduates and Wagner awarded the diplomas.
The local 2015 School of Nursing graduates are as follows: Cynthia Nishwitz, Laura; Sanjuanita Benitez, Piqua; Leah Gifford and Ashley Thompson, Tipp City; Erica Zimmerman, Troy; Emily Magoto and Millicent Obinwa.
