Quarter auction planned

PIQUA — The Piqua High School Show Choir will host its eighth annual quarter auction from 7-9 p.m. Dec. 8, at the Piqua High School commons/cafeteria. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. to preview the auction items. A concessions stand will be available. The initial cost is $2 per paddle, and the per-item auction price ranges from 25 cents to $1, based on the value of the item.

YMCA offers mini-session

MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County YMCA will offer a variety of land and water group fitness classes during the holiday season. The session dates will extend from Dec. 12 through Dec. 31. Registration begins Monday, Dec. 5.

A variety of classes will be offered including yoga, cycling, aqua power, BARRE, tabata, Zumba, and more. The holiday mini session schedule can be picked up from either Miami County YMCA location or on their website at

YWCA holds kids’ classes

PIQUA — Students in grades K-4 are invited to join in the YWCA Piqua’s annual “Rudolph’s Recipes” class from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8. Kids will help create, bake, and decorate baked goods and then take home dozens of cookies and holiday treats to share with their families.

“Rudolph’s Recipes” has been a YWCA holiday tradition for over 25 years, according to Leesa Baker, YWCA executive director.

On Dec. 12, from 6-7 p.m., little ones in grades K-3 will love the Christmas holiday craft class offered by the YWCA. Students in the Career Center Early Childhood Education and Care program will help class participants create unique gifts using puzzles pieces.

Class size is limited, so sign up early. All materials are included in the class fee.

Wion to play Hayner

TROY — The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center is pleased to have David Wion present two musical Christmas concerts on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 1 p.m. The concerts are free and open to the public.

Wion is known throughout the area for his piano concerts and for being a part of the Twilight Concert Series and Afternoon Musicale series at the Dayton Art Institute. He will perform holiday favorites such as “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” “What Child Is This,” “White Christmas,” “The Christmas Song” and many more. Wion will be joined by vocalists Justin Williams and Gregory J. Ashe.

Come early and tour the beautifully decorated Hayner House. Refreshments will be served after each concert.
