MIAMI COUNTY — At their meeting Thursday, the Miami County Commissioners approved several purchases and contracts.
Purchases included additional bandwidth for the county’s microwave system at a cost of $11,100 on behalf of the Communication Center. This will increase the bandwidth for the system from 300Mbps to 500Mbps and will also include a three-year advanced replacement and emergency support agreement.
This will be purchased from Exhalt through WS Electronics of Troy.
The commissioners also approved the purchase and installation of three security cameras for the Municipal Court at a cost of $6,323.
The commissioners signed an agreement with Rieck Services for the replacement of the West Central Juvenile Facility boiler system.
The $212,075 project includes the removal and replacement of the current heating boilers, pumps, piping, electrical connections and other miscellaneous equipment.
The cost of the work will be 100 percent reimbursed by the Ohio Department of Youth Services.
In other business, the board signed the employment verification for Commissioner-elect Greg Simmons. His first day on the board will be Jan.2, 2017. His annual salary is set at $72,346.
The commissioners also authorized the Sanitary Engineering Department to award up to four additional educational grants of up to $500 each, for a total of 10 grants of up to $500 to be awarded to county schools.
The grants are awarded to schools for recycling education and are sponsored by the Miami County Solid Waste District.
