WEST LIBERTY — Currently, there are more than 12,500 children in protective custody in Ohio alone. The need for safe and loving families is ever growing. Because of this need, Adriel staff will be hosting foster parent information sessions for potential foster parents as well as current foster parents looking to transfer agencies. In Troy, a session will be offered from 5-7 p.m. Dec. 15 at Abundant Life Assembly of God, 661 N. County Road 25-A.
The information sessions will be a casual open house for interested potential foster parents to gain more information about becoming a foster and/or adoptive parent through Adriel. Staff members will be on hand to answer questions about licensing, training, expectations, providing care and working with Adriel. Current foster caregivers will be available to speak to their own experiences with fostering children and working with Adriel as well.
“We love to welcome new foster parents into the Adriel family and would love to share with you the joy that comes with providing a safe place for children,” said Rhonda Peterson, regional foster care manager.
Adriel has a long and rich history of caring for children in need. Founded as the Mennonite Children’s Home in 1896, Adriel’s mission has always been focused on serving those children who either have no family or whose family environment is not safe or healthy. As the needs of children and families have changed, Adriel has adapted and expanded its services to meet them. Each day Adriel operates to serve its mission of providing quality care for children in the spirit of Christian love.
For any questions regarding the events, feel free to call Rhonda Peterson at (937) 935-4781. Light refreshments will be provided.
