Driver cited in pedistrian strike

TROY — The Troy Police Department has cited the driver involved in the accident that sent two female pedestrians to the hospital Monday.

According to Capt. Joe Long, Robert Rorh, 53, of Troy, was cited for a red light violation, striking two women in the crosswalk at Franklin and South Market Street.

Esther Neer, 67, and Jo Ann Di Cuirci, 68, both of Xenia were walking northbound across Franklin Street at the intersection of South Market Street and were struck by Rohr’s Honda CRV around 5:53 p.m Monday.

One of the women suffered a concussion and several broken bones and the other woman suffered a broken leg.

One woman was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by Careflight. The other woman was transported by Troy medics to Upper Valley Medical Center.

It is unknown which pedestrian was transported by Careflight or either one of their conditions.

Rohr was making a right turn onto south Market Street off of Franklin Street. According to Sgt. Richard Gumerlock who assisted at the scene, Rorh told police he “plain didn’t see them.”
