Bradford RR Museum opens April 1

Season begins with railroaders event

BRADFORD — The Bradford Ohio Railroad Museum will open for the season with its Salute to the Railroaders at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1, at the Bradford Public Library.

This year, the theme of the museum is the role railroads played in World War I.

Past, present and future railroaders and their family are invited to attend. Railroaders are asked to bring photos and stories they wish to share with each other.

The BF Tower will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This year, the museum exhibit hall will be closed for renovations in preparation for new exhibits, however the BF Tower will be open on Saturdays (except holidays) from April through October from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The museum’s schedule of events for 2017 include Dining by Rail on May 6, at the Bradford Catholic Rectory. This is a formal railroad dining car menu dinner prepared by Chef Michal James. A silent auction is held in conjunction with the dinner, with local entertainer Joseph Helfrech providing the entertainment. This is a reservation-only event, so visit for details on how to attend.

The Bradford Railroad Heritage Festival will be held the first Saturday in June on the 3rd. This event will have Dayton N- Scale Suitcase layouts, train rides for the children, music by Daryl Peeples, children’s train activities and games. Miami Veterans Museum will be bringing their History in a Box. Watch the website for further details and follow the museum’s Facebook page for the latest updates.

The Run for the Rails will be held Oct. 14. This 3K run is held on the Saturday of the Pumpkin Show.

Also this year, there will be a food drive in conjunction with the Manna Meal Ministry. A nonperishable food item will be greatly appreciated. Entry forms are available on the website.
