TROY — The Troy Police Department responded to a burglary of the Verizon store in the 1800 block of West Main Street around 7:50 p.m. Thursday.

According to Capt. Joe Long, three black males entered the store and held the clerk at gun point with a rifle or assault rifle.

The robbers stole 40-60 cell phones and fled in a vehicle.

Troy Police patrolmen followed the car until FBI Task Force agents picked up the pursuit, which ended outside of Indianapolis on Interstate 70. The three alleged robbers and the driver were then taken into custody.

Names of the alleged robbers and the driver of the vehicle have not been released.

Capt. Joe Long said the FBI Task Force must have been aware of the activity in the Troy area. Capt. Long said he has contacted the FBI headquarters in Indianapolis and has not heard from them as of press time.
