FFA teams complete busy season

CASSTOWN — The Miami East-MVCTC FFA Chapter members wrapped up a spring season of Career Development Events.

Jackie Winner and Jeff Carpenter and several parents coordinated many of the students competing. Teams completed at several invitations.

On March 4 at the Marysville/Champaign County Invitational in Marysville, the Dairy Cattle Team placed 31st and consisted of Michael Bair and Elizabeth Bair. The Equine Management team placed 60th with team members Thomas Miller and Aliegha Ulsh. The General Livestock team placed 47th with team members Carly Gump, Kylie Blair, Chloe Gump, Dustin Winner, Jarrett Winner, Lauren Wright, Katelynn Wallace, Madison Maxson, Ethan Fine, Adam Bensman, Ethan Paulus, Jadyn Bair and Thomas Wallace. Carly Gump was the highest placing individual from Miami East.

On March 11 at the Miami Trace Invitational in Washington Courthouse, the Equine Management team consisted of Thomas Miller. Michael Bair competed in the Dairy Handler competition and placed in the top five. The General Livestock Judging Team consisted of Libby Carpenter, Emma Sutherly, Isaac Beal, Chloee Thomas, Dustin Winner, Chloe Gump, Katelynn Wallace, Lauren Wright, Jarrett Winner, Adam Bensman and Thomas Wallace. The team placed 32nd. Libby Carpenter was the highest placing individual from Miami East.

On March 18 at the Mercer County Invitational in Celina, the Dairy Cattle Team consisted of Elizabeth Bair and Michael Bair. The team placed 28th. The Equine Management Team consisted of Jessica Copeland, Abbey Koontz and Thomas Miller. The team placed 21st. Jessica Copeland was the highest individual from Miami East. The General Livestock Team placed 11 out of 52 teams. Team members were Carly Gump, Kylie Blair, Emma Sutherly, Libby Carpenter, Isaac Beal, Sam Sutherly, Chloee Thomas, Chloe Gump, Madison Maxson, Ethan Paulus, Thomas Wallace, Sidney Pelfrey, and Jadyn Bair. The highest individual from Miami East was Carly Gump who placed 39 out of 272 individuals.

At the State Spring Career Development Event on March 25 at the Ohio Expo Center/State Fairgrounds in Columbus, the season finished. The Equine Management Team consisted of Abbey Koontz, Jessica Copeland and Thomas Miller. The team placed 58 out of 124. Jessica Copeland as the highest placing individual from Miami East and placed 65 out of 419 individuals. The General Livestock Team consisted of Carly Gump, Kylie Blair, Sidney Pelfrey and Chloee Thomas. The team placed 99 out of 176 teams. Carly Gump was the highest placing idnvidual from Miami East and placed 306 out of 955 individuals.

At the State Dairy Handlers and Dairy Cattle Career Development Events on April 1, Michael Bair placed 14 out of 25 in the Dairy Handlers Event. Elizabeth Bair placed 143 in the Dairy Cattle Evaluation Event. Annette Bair chaperoned the event.
