TROY — Willoughby’s Hollow is located at 8 Market St., but walking inside the store can make one feel like they have headed south to Tennessee.
The store opened last week. According to co-owner Yvonne Rupert, she and her son Kyle Longstreath decided to go into business to honor her father’s family.
“I always wanted to open a country store,” she said. “When we were younger my parents used to take us to Kentucky when we going there to get to Gatlinburg. I want to bring the mountains and the country into Troy.”
Rupert’s store has a diversity of items, such as Amish jams and jellies, candles, lighted canvases and spoon rings from the Silver Spoon Company, old-fashioned candy and Gatlinburg taffy.
The candles for sale — which come in scents that include caramel coffee cake, orange cranberry and cinnamon roll — come from the Warm Glow Candle Company from Richmond, Ind.
“A lot of the stuff is from Ohio, and the Amish jams, jellies and relishes are from Indiana,” she said. “The saltwater taffy is the only thing from Gatlingburg, as well as the grapevine trees. Those were made in Tennessee as well.”
Rupert said in the situation the store might run out of a particular item, she will place an order and get their item to them as soon as possible.
“If there’s a certain item someone wants I can get it to them in two days,” she said.
Her goal is to bring products and an atmosphere to the city.
“I’m hoping it brings part of the the mountains and the country to Troy, since we don’t have anything like this here,” she said. “When I was looking for Christmas for my mom, she likes a lot the stuff that I couldn’t find unless I went down to the Fairfield Mall.”
Willoughby’s Hollow is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The store is located at 8 Market St.
