Trustees discuss roadwork

MONROE TWP. — During their Aug. 7 meeting, the Monroe Township Trustees discussed an impending road closure to all traffic beginning Aug. 14 on County Road 25A from Evanston Road to Michaels Road due to the continuation of the County Road 25A Reconstruction Project.

It has been noted that the Evanston Road intersection will be open both directions on Evanston and southbound on County Road 25A. It is expected that the road will be closed for 90 days during this phase of the project, and then Phase 2 of the Reconstruction Project will again change the traffic patterns and access. Updated postings will follow, and Evanston Road, Peters Road and State Route 571 will be shown as the local detour routes. The trustees have asked the Miami County Sheriff’s Department to monitor this roadway area of Monroe Township for excess traffic and speed issues by drivers detoured from this road closure.

The board paid bills at the Aug. 7 meeting that totaled $46,587, and accepted the financial status reports ending July 2017 and the bank reconciliation of June 30 as presented by the township fiscal officer.

It was announced the Monroe Township Water and Sewer District will next meet 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14 in the township meeting room, 6 E. Main St., Tipp City. According to the board, progress on the Country Estates East water and sewer project continues and is projected to be completed by Oct. 31.

County Road 25-A, Troy; and the weekly Farmers Marketplace on Thursdays through September from 5-8 p.m. at the corner of East Main and South Third streets.
