UVCC appoints new adult division director

PIQUA — Upper Valley Career Center is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Scott Naill as Director of their Adult Division. Naill, is a nationally recognized CTE instructor who taught the Career Center’s high school HVAC/R program for the past 21 years. Under his leadership the HVAC/R program received awards and national recognition for strong business partnerships. In 2015 the program received an Excellence in Action Award which lead to Naill being invited to the White House to discuss the value and importance of career and technical education.

The move to the Adult Division brings Naill full circle since he began his teaching career with Adult Workforce Development at Springfield CTC. He says he never forgot the experience or the impact of Continued Education. “I understood career tech post-secondary was important for individuals; but through that early teaching experience, I saw how critically important it can be for business growth and the overall community.”

Naill shares his vision, “The Upper Valley Career Center Adult Division has the expertise, technology and community support to take workforce development to a new level.” Naill credits his predecessor, the late Dr. Barbara Wagner, for achieving ACCSC accreditation of full-time career development programs including the flagship Practical Nursing program. “Accreditation provides such a strong foundation and is an indicator of Upper Valley Career Center’s commitment to excellence.”

Dr. Nancy Luce, Superintendent, appreciates the strengths Naill brings to the new position. “I look forward to seeing the results of Scott’s leadership and vision as we continue to expand our programs and services for adult learners.”

Naill is a Distinguished Alumni of Springfield CTC and has a Bachelor’s of Science in Education from Wright State University and a Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton. He and his wife Toni and son Evan reside in Springfield.
