Troy-Tipp Women’s Connection to meet
TROY — The meeting of the Troy-Tipp Women’s Connection will be held at the Troy Country Club on Wednesday, Oct. 18. The theme for the luncheon is “Confessions” and the speaker is Sandy Lemmon from Toledo.

Bird Club to hold pie sale
MIAMI COUNTY — Miami Valley Bird Club and Rescue is having a fundraiser selling Mehaffie’s Pies. The flavors are apple, dutch apple, cherry, peach, blueberry, lemon, chocolate cream, coconut cream, and pecan. These pies are baked fresh a few days before delivery and can be frozen up to six months.
Pies are $10 each and will be delivered on Sunday, Nov. 19 (the Sunday before Thanksgiving). Orders will be taken until Monday, Nov. 6, and pies must be paid for at time of order.

Retired Teachers meeting set
MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County Retired Teachers will meet Monday, Oct. 16, at the Troy Church of the Nazarene, located at the corner of Route 55 and Barnhart Roads. The meeting at 11:45 a.m. and includes a luncheon. For luncheon reservations call Connie Keim (937) 335-3683.
The October program will honor educators who have passed for their service to children.

Philanthropy Day celebration planned
COVINGTON — National Philanthropy Day in Miami County will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 4 p.m. at the new Covington Elementary building. The Covington Chamber will host the event at the new school building. In addition to recognizing Miami County residents and businesses for their philanthropic giving in the county, Covington Savings and Loan will be recognized.
Museum to host quarter auction
TROY — The Miami Valley Veterans Museum will hold a quarter auction on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 6-8 p.m. at the Miami Valley Veterans Museum, 107 W. Main St., Troy.
It starts at 5 p.m., doors open at 4 p.m. It costs $3 for the first paddle and $1 for each additional paddle. All monies raised will benefit the museum. An elevator is available to reach the second floor. Refreshments available.

Library book sale begins Oct. 20
TROY — The Friends of the Troy-Miami County Public Library will sponsor their semi-annual book sale on Friday, Oct. 20, through Sunday, Oct. 22, at the Miami County Fairgrounds, 650 N. County Road 25-A, Troy, Ohio.
Sale times are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. A members-only preview night will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19, during which time new memberships may be purchased.
A great selection of books, puzzles, DVDs, special titles, and old books are available with prices starting at 25 cents. Sunday is $1 per bag of books and all specials are half price. All proceeds will be used for the Summer Reading Club, literacy efforts, and special purchases for the library.
