WEST MILTON — Next Saturday, West Milton residents can head downtown for one last end-of-summer get-together.

While next weekend’s event is the 7th annual Fall Fling, this is the first year the event will be hosted by the West Milton Rotary.

“It should be a very fun, community event,” Municipal Manager and Rotary Club President Matt Kline said.

Kline said the event will be a little different than in past years, because it will be slightly smaller and it will all be held in the central downtown area.

The event will feature a free cruise in, which last year saw over 300 old cars participate, Kline said.

When the previous organizers decided not to go forward with the event this year, the Rotary Club took over.

“We wanted to keep the tradition going,” Rotarian Allen Smith said. While the event will be smaller than in previous years, the club hopes that it will still be a success, Smith said.

The Rotary Club will be selling burgers and hot dogs, Smith said, and there will be other vendors selling ice cream, kettle corn and more. There will also be a beer tent and music provided by WMPA Television.

In addition, many of the downtown restaurants and businesses will be open, Kline said. Other arts and crafts vendors will be at the event as well.

“We are hoping to create an opportunity for people to have fellowship and socialize in the downtown,” Smith said.

The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 19 from 4-8 p.m.

After the event, the West Milton Park Board will host a free movie night in the park by the baseball diamond. The movie has not yet be selected, but will be a family friendly film courtesy of Curry Video. Movie night in the park will begin after dark.
