CONCORD TWP. — Concord Township and city of Troy voters elected incumbents Tom Mercer and Don Pence to return and serve as township trustees beginning on Jan. 1, 2018.
J. Russell Wheeler ran against the incumbents and received 1,851 votes in the election. Mercer earned 3,451 votes and Pence earned 4,176 votes to serve for another term. It will be Pence’s second term as a trustee of Concord Township. Pence also served as the interim fiscal officer for Concord Township prior to becoming a trustee of the township.
“I just appreciate the people supporting us. That’s a vote of confidence for us for what we’ve been doing for the last four years,” said Pence on Tuesday. “We’ve made some nice progress with our services and we just hope to continue to maintain that.”
Mercer has served as a Concord Township Trustee since 2009.
The unofficial results include 100 percent of the precincts reporting as of press time.
In the Staunton Township trustees race, Levi Long won a seat with 372 votes along with Bill B. Gearhart with 442 votes, according to unofficial results.
Susan Couser received 146 votes, but did not win a seat on the trustees.
