TROY — Troy City Council 2nd Ward elected John Terwilliger on the Nov. 7 ballot.
John Terwilliger ran as the Republican candidate and Cynthia Schaefer is running as the Democratic candidate.
Doug Tremblay did not seek re-election for the second ward seat. Terwilliger is currently an at-large council member.
Terwilliger received 539 votes versus Schaefer’s 263 votes in the race.
“I’m glad that it happened. It’s a challenge to represent our ward as well as Doug has. Cynthia should be congratulated for having the interest to be active in the city’s government. And, I’d like to thank the people,” Terwilliger said.
At-large council members also appeared on the ballot, although the race was determined during the May primary. The voters were asked to select three candidates for at-large council: Robin Oda, Todd Severt and William Lutz.
Terwilliger’s goals included “maintain quality city services at a responsible cost, to continue a quality road and sidewalk program, to encourage economic growth and educational support.”
Schaefer’s previous political experience included her candidacy for 2nd Ward in 2015. Schaefer is a member of the Miami County Democratic Central Committee, secretary, and the Miami County Democratic Women organizations.
