TROY — One man was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight after his Honda Civic ended up under a large culvert bridge in the 700 block of Skylark Road around 1 a.m. Monday morning.
According to Troy Police Department, the accident was reported in the 700 block of Skylark in the canal area under the road way.
The 21-year-old driver, Jonathan Dankworth, was the lone occupant. He was unconscious at the scene, but breathing when first responders arrived.
Dankworth remains in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital as of Tuesday afternoon.
He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
According to officials, Dankworth was traveling southbound on Skylark when he failed to negotiate the bend in the road near Longwood Drive. His vehicle continued straight, through a resident’s yard and struck a tree. Dankworth’s vehicle continued through the fence before coming to a stop in the base of the concrete area of the water way.
Troy Police Department’s crash reconstructionist was called to investigate the accident. No further details have been released.
