TROY — A man was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident around noon Saturday in Troy.
The victim has been identified as 71 year-old Daniel Ball.
According to Troy Police Department Captain Joe Long, preliminary reports show that Ball was riding a bicycle westbound on Main Street in the curb lane, while a car was driving westbound in the outside lane, when Ball made a sudden lane change in front of the car. The incident occurred in front of O’Reillys Auto Parts, 943 W. Main St., Long said.
Long said the driver said she was unable to brake in time to prevent hitting the bicyclist. She was not injured in the incident.
Ball was pronounced dead at the scene, Long said.
The incident remains under investigation, Long said.
