MIAMI COUNTY — At their meeting on Tuesday, the Miami County Commissioners approved a resolution declaring the intent to place a levy on the ballot for Riverside Developmental Disabilities.
This 2.5 mill, five year renewal levy provides funding for Riverside’s developmental disabilities programs. The 2.5 mill levy has been in place since 2002. In 2011, it was extended from a three year levy to a five year levy.
According to Riverside Superintendent Brian Green, this levy is the organization’s largest operating levy.
In other business, the commissioners approved the donation of county property to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
These items include a sedan K9 insert and 24 Mag Light flashlights that are no longer of any use to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office. The insert does not fit into the departments current SUV cruisers. The department also bought new Stinger flashlights for the deputies.
According to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, each of these items has a value of less than $2,500.
