TROY — The public is invited to the unveiling of the community read book at 11 a.m., Nov. 1, at Tipp City Public Library, 11. E. Main St. The winning title will be announced by Sen. Bill Beagle.
This is the first year for the One Book, Many Community reading initiative for northern Miami Valley residents. Participating libraries include Troy-Miami County Public Library, Piqua Public Library, New Madison Public Library, Oakes-Beitman Public Library, J.R. Clarke Public Library, Arcanum Public Library, Milton-Union Public Library, Bradford Public Library, Tipp City Library, and Edison State Community College.
Representatives from each of these libraries met on an ongoing basis and determined four books residents they felt residents would enjoy. Community members cast more than 350 votes when choosing the final book. These books include The One by John Marrs; Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward; Real Food/Fake Food by Larry Olmstead; and Educated: A Memoir by Tara Westover.
Area libraries will offer several programs focused on the theme of the book, beginning next year.
