Open house set for Dr. Sims

TROY —

A retirement open house for Dr. James L. Sims, who works in his office with Dr. Andrew Katerakis, will be from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 at the offices, 1374 W. Main St., Troy.

Dr. Sims has been a dentist in Troy for 42 years, starting in 1976 in his father’s dental practice, James D. Sims DDS.

He studied at Miami University and at The Ohio State University.

Dr. Sims served in the US Navy as a dental officer aboard the USS Cascade in Naples, Italy. He then served as Navy Dental Lieutenant Commander at Allied Southern Forces Hospital, Naples, Italy.

Dr. Sims enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and friends, is an avid golfer and likes fly fishing.

The staff wish the community to stop by and wish him well.

Roads to close

MIAMI COUNTY — Fenner Road in Concord Township will be closed between Forest Hill Road and Greenlee Road on Monday and Tuesday for a culvert replacement by the Miami County Engineers Office.

The road will be closed 250 feet west of Forest Hill Road and will be closed 24 hours a day through the dates.

Ross Road will be closed between Pisgah Road and State Route 201 in Bethel Township will be closed Monday and Tuesday for a culvert replacement by the Miami County Engineers Office.

Donkey basketball scheduled

CASSTOWN — The Miami East-MVCTC FFA Chapter is hosting a Donkey Basketball at 4 p.m. Nov. 4 in the Miami East Board of Education gymnasium. Doors will open at 3 p.m. Concessions will be available.

There will be free donkey rides for all children under 12 years of age. Pre-sale tickets are $6 and tickets at the door will be $8. Children 6 and under are free.

All proceeds benefit the Fletcher Food Pantry.

Craft show upcoming

WEST MILTON — Hoffman United Methodist Church will hold its annual Craft Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 17 in the church activity center, 201 S. Main St., West Milton.

The event will feature 20-plus booths offering a wide variety of items including jewelry, wood crafted items, candles, baked goods and more.

The Methodist Women will also offer their homemade, ready-to-cook pot pie by the bag.

The Hoffman Cafe will provide coffee and doughnuts, pop, sandwiches, homemade chicken corn soup, vegetable soup, and a variety of pies.
