TROY — Miami County’s unemployment rate for September was 3.5 percent. There are many job opportunities within the county and the surrounding area. Finding a job isn’t necessarily a challenge for most veterans, but challenging areas such as transitioning from military life to civilian life, translating military jobs into civilian jobs, completing a resume or successful interviews and knowing the resources available within the community can exist.
On Thursday, Nov. 15, Veterans Resource Day, sponsored by Miami County Job and Family Services, will give veterans the tools they need to be successful.
The free event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the OhioMeansJob Center at 2040 N. County Road 25-A, Troy. Lunch will be provided.
Resource Day will provide veterans with resume tips, apprenticeship information, transferrable skills from military to civilian life and navigating the OhioMeansJobs site for veteran resources and job search.
OhioMeansJobs staff along with the local Veteran Services Organization, the VA, American Red Cross, an apprenticeship representative and a Social Security representative will be on hand to provide information to veterans and answer questions.
Participants should bring a resume if they have one, DD-214, and a driver’s license or photo ID.
To pre-register for this event, email Jessica.firstname.lastname@example.org or call OhioMeansJobs Miami County at (937) 440-3465.
