COVINGTON — Another three-vehicle crash, the second in two days, left another victim with injuries requiring an air medical helicopter.
An on-duty state trooper drove up on a crash that had just occurred at the intersection of State Route 48 and State Route 185 around 4;30 p.m.
Covington Fire Department and Rescue Squad were dispatched to the scene and CareFlight was put on standby. First Responders arrived and requested that CareFlight respond and an addition medic from Bradford be called.
Traffic became an issue due to the time of day and Covington firefighters, after securing the three vehicles, began directing traffic while additional firefighters set up a landing zone for CareFlight.
State troopers said that initial investigation shows that a blue sedan that was eastbound on State Route 185, stopped at the intersection, and then proceeded into intersection, where it was struck by a northbound Ford Mustang. The impact drove the blue car across the intersection and into another vehicle that was stopped at the eastbound stop sign on State Route 185.
The driver of the Mustang was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight. The drivers of the other vehicles refused treatment at the scene.
No names have yet been released and the condition of the driver taken aboard CareFlight is not known.
The crash is being investigated by the Piqua Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
