Road closed

UNION TOWNSHIP — Horseshoe Bend Road will be closed between Shiloh Road and Rangeline Road on Wednesday, April 10 and Thursday, April 11 for a culvert replacement by the Miami County Engineers Office.

The work will be 1000 feet east of Shiloh Road.

Y offers SNL event

MIAMI COUNTY —The Miami County YMCA Piqua Branch is offering a Saturday Night Liveevent on Saturday, April 13 for youth in kindergarten through sixth grade.

This will be a fun filled night with a scavenger hunt, swimming, gym games, and the Youth Center. Pizza and lemonade will be served at the Youth Center.

Drop off begins at 7 p.m. and pick-up is at 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Register at the Piqua branch or over the phone at 773-9622. The cpost is $10 for members and $16 for non-members.

Parks to hold hiking info session

TIPP CITY — The Miami County Park District will hold its “Know Before You Go” program from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, April 13 at Charleston Falls Preserve, 2535 Ross Road, south of Tipp City.

If you are planning to head out and hike in a new place this spring or summer this class is for you. Find out what you need to “know before you go.” Stop by this fun, self-led hike and earn all about what to pack, and what to do if you meet unfamiliar wildlife along the trail.

Johnston Friends sponsor show

PIQUA — The Johnston Farm Friends Council is bringing Mike Follin to the Fort Piqua Plaza for “Saints Preserve Us! The Irish In America” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18. Follin will tell the story of Shawn O’Shaughnessy, an Irish immigrant who comes to America to find his fortune for his family in the “Land of Golden Opportunity.”

Reservations are $30, or $25 for Friends Council and Ohio History Connection members. Reserve your spot by calling 773-2522 by April 15. Proceeds will help support the educational programming at the Johnston Farm & Indian Agency throughout 2019.

Flag program set

PIQUA —The Miami County Historical & Genealogical Society will offer “5 Flags Over Piqua,” presented by Andy Hite, Johnston Farm & Indian Agency site manager, from 6:30-8 p.m. April 16 in the Piqua Public Library’s Louis Room, 116 W. High St.

Book sale upcoming

BRADFORD — The annual book sale and fine free week will be held April 23-26 at Bradford Public Library. In addition to books, there will be music CDs and even some holiday decorations and props from past programs. Friday will be $1 a bag day — anything that will fit in a brown grocery bag for just $1.

Proceeds from the book sale will benefit programs throughout the year.

There will also be a fine-free week the same week. Bradford cardholders can have overdue fines waived as well as fees for one lost item waived.

Quarter auction offered

TROY — The Miami Valley Veterans Museum will be hosting the “Quarters for Our Quarters” auction at 7 p.m. April 27 at the museum location, on the second floor of the Troy Masonic Temple Lodge, 107 W. Main St.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Admission is $3 and will include the purchase a numbered paddle., with additional paddles for $1.

There will also be food and drink items for sale with all proceeds to benefit the museum.
