TROY — Attention shoppers!
The Troy Kroger Marketplace will open its doors at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28 for the first time with 124,000 square feet of retail and grocery space at 731 W. Market St.
The “old” store will close its doors on Wednesday.
According to Kroger media specialist Patty Leesemann, the new Kroger Marketplace will be full service when it opens its doors on Thursday, with the exception of the store’s wine and “Growler Bar.”
“It will only be able to serve samples or tastings at this time until we get a liquor license to serve full beer and wine glasses,” Leesemann said. “In addition, we will also have The Little Clinic, Murray’s Cheese, apparel, Fred Meyer Jewelers, Bistro, expanded departments like Pharmacy, Meat and Seafood, Deli and Bakery, Produce, Dairy, Bulk and Natural Foods, Kitchen Place, and Baby World.”
Leesemann said Kroger’s online ordering feature will be available later this spring. Leesemann said most of the store’s major celebrations and its official grand opening will be held this spring.
“We are planning our grand opening celebration and events for April after the old store is demolished and there is ample parking to accommodate the events and activities,” she said.
Demolition of the old Kroger will take approximately a month.
“The old store location will have a temporary pad and serve as employee parking until the lot can be leveled, prepped and ready for asphalt in the spring. At that time, it will serve as customer parking,” she said.
While the new Kroger Marketplace isn’t the chain’s biggest ever store on record — Oakely in Cincinnati boasts that record at 145,000 square feet — it’s still one of the store’s largest in the area.
Fred Meyer Jewelers is celebrating the grand opening of its 21st location in Ohio with a 1,300 square foot store within the Troy Kroger Marketplace at 731 W. Market St., at 7 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29. This opening marks the company’s 83rd store within a Kroger Marketplace and second new store to open in 2016.
As part of the grand opening, the first 200 Fred Meyer Jewelers customers on Jan. 29 will receive a free three-piece crystal ball stud fashion earring set in sterling silver, valued at $90 as well as other promotional opportunities.
On Feb. 4, Greenville Federal will host its ribbon cutting ceremony beginning at 9:30 a.m. inside the new Kroger Marketplace.
