TROY — A Miami East Local School bus with 10 students on it struck a mailbox encased by brick around 7 a.m. Friday morning.
According to Superintendent Dr. Todd Rappold, neither the driver or the students were injured in the incident, which occurred in the area of Crestwood and Stringtown roads in Staunton Township.
The bus sustained minor damage to the bumper. Rappold said he personally transported the students to the school and all were checked by the school’s nurse. Rappold then finished the bus route and picked up the remaining children.
Rappold said he notified the parents of the students who were on the bus at the time of the incident and then notified the district of the incident by a One Call Now.
The Miami County Sheriff’s Office also was notified of the incident.
