Piqua police reports highlights


PIQUA — All information is provided by Piqua Police Department reports.

ACCIDENT: A traffic crash was reported at noon on Sept. 16 on the Ash Street overpass. A male driver was cited.

A traffic crash was reported at 2:55 p.m. on Sept. 16 on the 1000 block of Covington Avenue near Smitty’s Bicycle Shop.

A two-vehicle accident was reported at approximately 4:10 p.m. on Sept. 16 in the area of Covington Avenue and Morrow Street. A driver was cited.

Officers responded on the report of multiple vehicles struck by a driver at 4:20 p.m. on Sept. 17 in the area of North Main and Mound streets. A driver was cited.

AGENCY ASSIST: Utilities department requested a stand by to keep the peace while they disconnected a customer’s power at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 16 on West Greene Street. Dog was located in the back yard, and resident was not home. Power was not disconnected.

MENACING: There was a telecommunications harassment complaint at approximately 12:40 p.m. on Sept. 16 on the 700 block of North Wayne Street.

ANIMAL COMPLAINT: An officer responded to the report of a dog on the roof of a house at 1:40 p.m. on Sept. 16 on the 500 block of Second Street. The officer was unable to make contact with the homeowner. The dog went back inside the house while the officer was on scene. A note was left for the homeowner, and the animal shelter was advised of the complaint.

WARRANT: A male subject with an active warrant out of Miami County was seen walking in the area at Speedway on Covington Avenue at approximately 2:50 p.m. on Sept. 16. Male was identified and warrant was confirmed. Male was incarcerated on the warrant. Jason R. Mowen, 28, of Piqua, was picked up on a probation violation.

A female subject with an active warrant was observed inside Speedway on Covington Avenue at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Sept. 16. She was taken to UVMC and then later the Miami County Jail. Brooke A. Montgomery, 22, of Sidney, was picked up for traffic-related charges.

BURGLARY: A female reported on Sept. 16 that an unknown person broke into her garage a week ago and stole a gardening wagon on the 600 block of Linden Avenue. The female requested extra patrols of the area.

THEFT: There was a report of a stolen central air unit at approximately 4 p.m. on Sept. 16 on the 300 block of Ellerman Street.

On Sept. 16 on Sherry Drive, a complainant advised that her ex-boyfriend stole her vehicle three days ago and has since learned he used it in a criminal manner. Complainant wanted a report to document the incident.

On Sept. 16, a victim reported an Xbox was stolen from a residence sometime in the last month on the 1000 block of Washington Avenue.

A caller advised a package he ordered was stolen from his front porch sometime between Sept. 11-16 on Gordon Street. Video of the juvenile suspect was observed. Investigation is pending.

Business advised a female attempted to leave the business with several items she did not pay for at 5:50 p.m. on Sept. 17 at Kroger. The female was arrested, charged with theft, and trespassed from the business. Crystal L. Hutton, 37, of Piqua, was charged with first-degree misdemeanor theft in connection with this incident.

UNATHORIZED USE: A complainant reported her vehicle was taken by a known male at 5 p.m. on Sept. 16 on Fourth Street. Kaden G. Stambaugh, 19, of Piqua, was charged with first-degree misdemeanor unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in connection with this incident.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Complainant reported a subject threatened her children at 7:50 p.m. on Sept. 16 on the 300 block of West Grant Street.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Toilet paper and produce was thrown into the yard of a local residence on Alpha Drive for two nights in a row. The incident was reported on Sept. 16.

A male was observed throwing eggs at a vehicle in the parking lot at Piqua Manor on West High Street at 12:50 p.m. on Sept. 17. Case is pending contact with the suspect.

TRESPASSING: Subjects were sitting on a back staircase of a vacant residence at 12:15 a.m. on Sept. 17 on the 500 block of North Main Street. Subjects were warned for trespassing.

An officer was dispatched to a disturbance at 1 p.m. on Sept. 17 on the 300 block of Broadway Street. Two individuals were warned for trespassing.

SUSPICIOUS: A male saw a shadowy figure in his backyard near the fence at 2 a.m. on Sept. 17 on the 1000 block of New Haven Road. Male stated he let his dog out, and the dog ran towards it, causing the figure to go over the fence. Nothing was located.

A caller advised a male wearing dark clothing was seen just outside her back door, before running off at 5:35 a.m. on Sept. 17, on Williams Place. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the male.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE: There was a criminal damage complaint on the 400 block of West Water Street, and the damage reportedly occurred sometime between 9 p.m. on Sept. 16 and 7 a.m. on Sept. 17.

CHILD ENDANGERING: A small child was found wandering around a neighborhood alone at approximately 1 p.m. on Sept. 17. The located was redacted. A woman was located and later charged with endangering children.

HIT SKIP AND OVI: Officer dispatched to a hit skip accident at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 17 in the area of North Main Street and Riverside Drive. A male was arrested for OVI. William L. Stone, 50, of Piqua, was charged with first-degree misdemeanor OVI-under the influence in connection with this incident.
