Preliminary autopsy shows ‘multiple trauma’ as cause of death

Staff Reports

LUDLOW FALLS — Miami County Coroner William Ginn said Friday a preliminary autopsy was conducted on 21-year-old Taylor Dickey of Troy who died as the result of a head-on collision with a bus early Thursday morning.

That autopsy revealed Dickey died from “multiple trauma.”

Toxicology tests are being performed, but it will take six to eight weeks to get results of that test.

According to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Dickey was driving a car at a high rate of speed Thursday morning when she collided with a school bus on State Route 55 and Kessler-Frederick Road on Thursday morning.

Dickey was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. It is undetermined if Dickey was wearing a seat belt due to the severity of damage to the car, according to Miami County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Dave Duchak.

The Milton-Union school bus was carrying many middle- to high school-age students, several of whom were taken to the hospital following the accident with minor injuries. All were released the same day. Other students were taken to Milton-Union schools to be evaluated.

The accident remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the Chevrolet Cavalier hit the bus or observed the car prior to the crash is asked to call Sgt. Todd Tennant at (937) 440-6085, Ext. 7009.
