PLEASANT HILL — A bread delivery driver interrupted a break-in at the Sunoco gas station in the 200 block of Monument Street, Pleasant Hill, in the early morning hours on Thursday.

According to Lt. Mike Whaley, the driver encountered the subject inside the store who then fled on foot. The delivery driver had a key to gain access to the store in order to deliver the bread.

The subject was described as a black male wearing a black ski mask and black clothing. Lt. Whaley said the driver immediately ran to his truck and called 9-1-1 at 3:40 a.m.

Law enforcement arrived minutes later and tracked the subject with a K-9 before the subject apparently left the area by vehicle.

Lt. Whaley said the subject apparently climbed up on the roof, cut a hole to gain access and made his way into the store. Detectives are still reviewing surveillance video from inside the store.
