Dean’s list achieved

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Courtney M. Schmiedebusch of Troy was named to the fall 2015 dean’s list for the College of Education at the University of Kentucky.

Undergraduates who attain 3.5 or higher grade point averages are named to the list.

Student-athlete honored

ATHENS, Ga. — Catelyn Schmiedebusch of Troy has been named to The Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll fr 2014-15 in recognition of outstanding academic accomplishment while competing in intercollegiate athletics at the Uinversity of Georgia.

Catelyn also was named to the J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Honor Roll for earning a 3.50 GPA or higher while taking 14 hours or more while being a student-athlete.

She is a member of the women’s track and field team.

Burton ‘stayed up for good’

AKRON — UA students “stayed up for good” and sacrificed a night of sleep in honor of the kids of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Raymond Burton of Troy, with more than 70 in attendance, enjoyed free food, UA’s a capella organizations, and Syringe Painting, an activity also done as art therapy at St. Jude to express feelings in artistic outlets. Combined with the last nine years of fundraising, Zips for St. Jude has donated $308,746.62 to support cancer research.
