MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County Commissioners approved contracts and held a public hearing at their meeting Thursday.
The commissioners accepted a quote from AT&T for their outbound emergency notification data service. This service allows the county’s Communication Center to notify residents of emergencies, including evacuations, missing children and boil advisories.
It is necessary for the county to periodically purchase the current 911 data in order to continue the notification program. The cost of the most current data is not to exceed $426.
The commissioners awarded a contract for the Eldean Road berm stabilization and resurfacing project at a cost of $214,274. The project was awarded to Wagner Paving of Laura.
The annual roadside spraying program was approved. The County Engineer’s Officer will proceed by force account to implement the program, which controls vegetation growth along the county roadways.
The estimate for the program is $16,000.
The commissioners also held the first of three public hearings on the proposed fee reduction at the Miami County Transfer Station.
The proposed adjustments would lower the disposal charges by $4 per ton. That rate does not include the Ohio EPA fee of $4.75 per ton.
The remaining fee adjustment hearings are set for March 17 and 24 at 1:45 p.m. in the commissioners hearing room. Following these hearings, the new fees will be established effective April 1.
There were no public comments during the hearing.
