Newton BOE approves supplemental contracts

PLEASANT HILL — The Newton Local Schools Board of Education took care of some general business during the Thursday meeting.

The board approved supplemental compensation for Newton K-12 Principal Danielle Davis for performing the tasks necessary to complete the Comprehensive Continuous Improvement Plan reporting and compliance.

Superintendent Pat McBride said approving to supplement CCIP was nothing out of the ordinary and an annual resolution.

“Mrs. Davis has performed these tasks for many years, and she’s done a good job,” he said.

The board also approved band supplemental contracts for several employees over the 2015-2016 school year. Erik Barnes was approved as percussion instructor and assistant director for $3,510.

Kyle Thomas was approved as assistant percussion instructor for $600, while Erika Kodramaz was approved as woodwind instructor and will receive $450 for band camp only.

Josh Jameson will also receive $450 for band camp only as the brass instructor, and Jackie Tribehorn was approved for the assistant guard director position for $1,700.

The guard director position, which has yet to be announced, will be filled and pay that individual $2,500.

McBride shared during his report that the school had been cleaned in anticipation for the school year starting, and that the track construction project should be started soon provided the rain does not continue.

He also shared that the district purchased nine hurdles for the track team. The hurdles are used and cost $2,800, which was a better price than buying new hurdles.
