YMCA winter session to begin

MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County YMCA will be taking registrations for Winter I Session classes beginning Monday, Dec. 12, for members and Thursday, Dec. 15, for nonmembers. Classes will begin Jan. 2, and last for seven weeks. This session includes many recreation and fitness options such as swim lessons, group exercise, gymnastics, youth sports and much more.

The Y will be taking online registrations at its website www.miamicountyymca.net. To do so, a participant must first register his or her email at the main desk. They can then go online, log in and register for their chosen classes. Registrations will also still be accepted at the desks and over the phone. Rec offers soccer sessions

TROY — The Troy Rec will offer two sessions of indoor soccer in 2017: one for pre-K and kindergarten and the second for first and second grade students. Registration will take place at The Rec, 11 N. Market St. on the following days and times: Dec. 12-15 from 4-7 p.m. , and Dec. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fee for each student is $35 and includes a team t-shirt, team picture, and award. Payment is due at registration.

The first and second grade session will practice and play in January/February. Pre-K and kindergarten (ages 4 to kindergarten) session will practice and play in March/April.

Dulcimer concert set

TROY — The Mountain Dulcimer Society of Dayton will hold its annual concert at Troy-Hayner Cultural Center at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 13.

The concert will feature Dana and Hank Gruber. This Cincinnati couple has been performing as a duo since Dana first fell in love with the hammered dulcimer in 1997. Their free concert at the Hayner will feature a wide variety of music played with warmth and humor.

In conjunction with this concert, The Mountain Dulcimer Society of Dayton will also host a workshop with the Grubers the following day. This dynamic workshop will include all skill levels from the basics to creating an ensemble. The cost for the workshop is $15 for members and $20 for non-members, and will be held at the West Charleston Church of the Brethren in Tipp City.
