Veterans breakfast upcoming

TROY — The Miami Valley Veterans Museum, on Wednesday, December 6, at 9 a.m., will host local attorney Elizabeth Durnell. She will address all concerns and issues in the event of serious accident or illness at any time of life.

Durnell will discuss the documents needed if one cannot make his or her own health care decisions. These documents are a living will and health care power of attorney. Durnell will also discuss wills and how living trusts avoid the fees, delay, and publicity of probate. She will also discuss qualifying for veteran’s benefits, specifically Aid and Attendance, a long-term care solution for veterans.

The seminar will also touch on how one can accomplish Medicaid planning to preserve wealth if they face a nursing home stay. Once Durnell explains how each element works, a paralegal from his office will prepare a Health Care POA and Living Will for free. Appointments will be offered to complete these documents at Durnell’s office. Participants will be offered a free consultation with Durnell in her office for discussing wills, living trusts, VA benefits, and nursing home planning. There is no charge to attend this presentation. Coffee and doughnuts free as well to all veterans and spouses. An elevator is available.
