Art sale set

TROY — The Country Workshop Artists was started back in the mid 1960s by a group of women who wanted to establish a place to create their artwork and build an organization to produce art, to educate and to encourage the arts.

The women were potters, painters, sculptors, weavers, jewelers, etc. Now, some 50 years later, the organization has thrived and the group continues to produce high quality artwork, provide educational workshops, award graduating seniors scholarships in the arts, and to produce a biennial sale with juried high-quality fine art created by their members and also invited outside artists.

This is a Juried Art Sale meaning the items have to pass through a jury of artists before they can be accepted into the sale. The sale has become well-known around the area for its high quality art with shoppers coming from cities around the state to purchase the items on sale.

Their biennial art sale will be held at the Staunton Grange Hall on North Market Street in Troy on Oct. 30 and 31. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
