WEST MILTON — The Milton-Union Community Chest is announcing the retirement of Robert “Bob” Leis from the Board of Trustees. Leis has served on the Board of Trustees for the last 33 years. He and his wife are making a permanent move to Florida this fall.

Leis worked at General Motors for several decades, starting in the late 1960’s and retiring in 1992. He was a systems analyst in the Materials Management department. He continued to stay busy after retiring from GM, working as a realtor up until this year. Leis even drove a school bus for Northmont City Schools for ten years.

Leis also donated his time and talents to the Milton-Union Community Chest since 1986. The Community Chest is a 501(c)(3) organization with the purpose of assisting organizations and citizens of Union Township. Since its inception in 1944, the Community Chest has existed to serve the people of West Milton and the surrounding community.

With the help of Leis, past disbursements from the Community Chest have gone to organizations that serve Union Township such as the Milton-Union Council of Churches, the Family Abuse Shelter of Miami County, the Miami County Imagination Library, Hoffman UMC, the Milton-Union Recreation Association, JTI, and Young Spirits.

The Board of Trustees of the Community Chest thanks Bob Leis for his many years of dedication and is excited to announce that his son Michael has agreed to take his place on the board, continuing the positive impact of the Leis family on Union Township.

If you would like to share your own appreciation to Leis or to donate to the Community Chest in his honor, please send it to P.O. Box 231, West Milton. The Community Chest thanks those that have given in the past and look forward to serving Union Township for years to come.
