Information provided by the Miami County Sheriff’s Office:

July 15

A deputy conducted a traffic stop on I-75 N at the 75 mile marker. The driver, Tommy Clerkly, was cited for multiple traffic violations and incarcerated for possession of hashish and marijuana.

July 17

WARRANT: While on patrol in the area of State Route 49 near the Darke County line, a deputy made a traffic stop on a black Dodge for a speeding violation. After making contact with the driver and its occupants, it was learned one of the passenger identified as, Christopher Little, had a warrant out of Montgomery County for contempt of court. Christopher was transported to Miami County jail without incident.

July 18

WARRANT: While on patrol in the area of West Main Street and Adams Street, Troy, a deputy observed a black Dodge Charger sitting at the intersection. The deputy discovered that the registered owner had an active warrant for his arrest through Darke County for failure to appear. The registered owner of that vehicle matched the description of the person driving the vehicle.

Upon making contact with the driver, the deputy confirmed that the driver was the registered owner, Tyler Baumgardner. The deputy had Tyler step out of the vehicle and patted him down for officer safety at the rear of the vehicle. The deputy had dispatch confirm the warrant through Darke County and then detained Tyler.

The deputy then made contact with the passenger Curtis Zuber and discovered that he also had a warrant through Darke County. Dispatch confirmed both warrants through Darke County and both Tyler and Curtis were taken into custody.

They were turned over custody to a Darke County deputy.

THEFT: A resident in the 100 block of Elm Street, Bradford, reports a theft of three wrenches and a paint sprayer.

July 19

TRESPASSING: A resident in the 2700 block of E. Loy Road, Piqua, called to report a suspicious vehicle had been in his yard between the evergreen trees and the cornfield at the west edge of his property around 3 a.m. The vehicle was reportedly a red S.U.V. that left his property headed east on Loy Rd. Extra checks were requested by the property owner.

THEFT: A resident in the 2000 block of W. State Route 571, Tipp City, called to report his truck was stolen sometime overnight. He was contacted this morning by Springfield Police Department advising they found the truck in a field.

THEFT FROM CHURCH:A resident reports a burglary at Union Baptist Church at 1833 East Peterson Road. This case is pending.

July 20

SEX OFFENDER: Homeless Registered Sex Offender Vernon Auten has failed to come into the sheriff’s office for three consecutive days and provide the “address at which he intends to stay.”

Editor’s note: Auten is currently incarcerated in the Miami County Jail.

THEFT OF VEHICLE: A Miami County Sheriff’s Office deputy took a theft complaint of a motor vehicle in the 5400 block of Dayton-Brandt Road, Tipp City.. The listed vehicle was stolen sometime between 4:30-7 p.m. on July 20.
