Reports from the Troy Police Department
SCHOOL INCIDENT: The Troy Police Department charged a juvenile for menacing and inducing panic following threats of violence made on the school bus. The school bus video captured the threats on tape, the student admitted to saying the threats and was charged by authorities. The student was incarcerated at West Central Juvenile Detention Center. Editor’s Note: This report was released on Dec. 5.
ASSAULT: An assault complaint was reported at the The Tavern, 116 W. Main St., Troy. Clarence Stafford, 36, of Springfield, was charged with assault, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence.
OVERDOSE: A suspected heroin overdose was reported in the 600 block of South Walnut Street. A syringe was located with suspected heroin. Charges pending.
OVERDOSE: Megan Jess, 30, of Troy, was warned for drug abuse following a heroin overdose after being treated at UVMC.
WELFARE CHECK: Administration at Hook Elementary School contacted the Troy Police Department School Resource Officer on a student’s welfare after a child did not show up for school for the third time without a phone call
The SRO located the child at the home in the 800 block of Atlantic Street, Troy. The parent appeared to have just woken up around noon. After further investigation, the parent did not appear to be in a state to drive the child to school and to be responsible to get the child on the bus. Children’s services was contacted for review.
THEFT: A theft of a tractor from a residence in the 500 block of W. Water Street was reported.
THEFT: A theft from a vehicle overnight was reported in the 400 block of Ohio Avenue, Troy.
BAD CHECKS: A resident reported eight checks stolen and passed at the Troy Meijer. Case is pending.
PARK CURFEW: Troy P.D. charged a male subject with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. A female subject was also charged with curfew and possession of drug paraphernalia and released to her mother.
MDMA FOUND: Following a traffic stop, Chelsea Roth was charged with possession of MDMA (Ecstasy), possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was incarcerated without incident.
OVERDOSE: An officer was dispatched for the second time in two days to the 1000 block of Long Street for a suspected drug overdose. Rachel Reed, 30, was revived by medics and transported to UVMC.
VERBAL DISPUTE: Officers were dispatched to 900 block Kent Street for a verbal dispute. Taylor Joslin was issued a summons for drug paraphernalia.
OVI: Christopher Hanvey was arrested for OVI.
ROBBERY: Three suspects were charged with robbery following a report in the 200 block of Riverside Drive.
PURSE FOUND: A KFC manager located a lady’s purse and turned it over to police.
BULLET FOUND ON SCHOOL PROPERTY: A student found an intact, unused bullet in front of the junior high school on Monday. The bullet was found near the sidewalk by the flag pole. The item will be disposed.
FRAUD: A resident reported someone used his Newegg.com account to purchase a laptop.
VODKA: A patrolman responded to a report of a female who stole vodka. The female admitted to stealing the vodka and was summonsed for theft.
SLEEPING BEHIND THE WHEEL: An officer discovered a male subject sleeping in a vehicle in the 100 block of S. Ridge Avenue. The subject was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
BURGLARY: The Tavern was broken into overnight and cash was stolen.
THEFT: Two subjects attempted to steal $500 in clothes from Kohl’s. The registered owner of the teal colored Nissan provided information for the whereabouts of one of the subjects. Charges pending.
